Craftboston Event Planning/Arts Administration Internships
Resumes reviewed on a rolling basis for fall and spring internships.
Established in 1897, SAC is the oldest non-profit crafts organization in the United States. Craftboston is a large programmatic component of The Society of Arts and Crafts. The Craftboston Internship Program was developed in 2001 to provide internships to undergraduate and graduate students seeking to learn about and contribute to the exciting field of contemporary crafts. The internship has a shared focus between event planning, artist relations and arts administration, allowing the intern to gain valuable experience in preparation for entry into todayís competitive job market.
Craftboston Spring & Holiday are the premiere New England exhibitions and sales of contemporary craft. The Spring show features 200 artists, while the Holiday show features 90 artists, showcasing one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces in baskets, ceramics, decorative fiber, wearables, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper and wood.
Interns work directly with the Programs Associate on a variety of tasks such as: processing artist documents, assembling artist and media materials, coordinating the Craftboston preview party, planning and organizing the Craftboston volunteer schedule, communicating with Craftboston exhibitors via phone and email, and daily administrative duties. Interns are integral to successful show preparations and an important presence during the event. It is essential that interns are available during Craftboston. Please check under the Craftboston Spring and/or Holiday tabs for show dates.
Participants in the Craftboston Internship Program work one to two days a week, for the duration of the fall semester, spring semester or full academic year. College credit can be earned through the internís college or university. At this time the internship is unpaid.
