Karina Burston joined the Society in 2019. An artist since childhood, she rebelled against suggestions she go to art school by attending Mount Holyoke College and Columbia Business School. Still, she couldn’t avoid her love of craft, and took up jewelry and ceramics hobbies while moonlighting in fine craft galleries. She finally ditched big business to work for nonprofits that promote making the world a more beautiful place to live, including founding an organization advocating for preservation and planning in her hometown. Now in Boston with her beloved Tibetan Terrier, Karina is excited to use her business skills at SA+C, where she hopes she can make a positive difference in the lives of artists and art appreciators.

Carrie comes to the Society of Arts and Crafts with a background in both apparel and interior design. She spent the better part of her seventeen years living in New York City as a residential interior designer for architectural firms and in her own design business. After a brief hiatus from life, during which she lived in a tent in the woods for a few months, Carrie moved to the Boston area where she pursued a career in natural health and nutrition. Following a five-year tenure at a well-established natural health store in Cambridge, MA, culminating in the position of general manager, Carrie chose to return to her design roots and further explore her love of art and craft. She is deeply grateful to be surrounded by beautiful hand-crafted objects every day. When she’s not at her post in the SA+C retail gallery, you’ll find her knitting obsessively or hiking in the woods.
